FAQs

What is Acorn?

Acorn is the skills and development platform. It makes skills visible, closes the gaps that matter, and proves that development is working. Acorn maps the skills each role requires, shows where every person stands against them, and captures evidence of skills in action drawn from real work, so leaders can answer who is ready, for what, and what to do next.

What does Acorn do that an LMS alone doesn’t?

A learning platform delivers training and tracks who took it. Acorn starts a step earlier, with the skills each role requires and where each person actually stands against them, in order to close that gap through development. Acorn includes full learning management, so learning sits inside the same platform as the skills it is meant to build, rather than being tracked separately from them.

How does Acorn measure skills?

Acorn measures against what the role requires to deliver business strategy. Every role in Acorn has the skills it needs mapped to it, with defined proficiency levels, so an assessment gives you a specific answer: this person is here, the role needs them there. As people take on assignments, deliver work, and mentor others, that gets assessed too, so the picture builds from what someone has actually done.
